Mangoes: 5 reasons why you should eat them

Mangoes are one of my personal favorites; I love the tropical sweetness, but the health benefits are also incredible. In my personal opinion, everyone should include mangoes in their diet in one form or another, and I’ll give you 5 reasons why.

1. They reduce the chance of getting cancer

Many fruits actually contain ingredients which help reduce the risk of cancer, but one of them is mangoes. Mangoes contain a lot of antioxidants which protect your body against breast cancers, leukemia and prostate cancer. There are plenty of antioxidants to mention: astragalin, fisetin, isoquercitrin, gallic acid and methyl gallate, just to name a few.

2. Can help with weight loss

When you’re trying to lose weight, mangoes might be a great choice for you. Mangoes contain all kinds of vitamins and nutrients and can help you feel fuller. However, mangoes have one of the highest sugar content of any other fruits, so it is important to be aware of this and not overindulge in mangoes or they can lose their weight loss effects. In fact, it could have a contradicting effect towards your progress and make you gain weight from the excess sugar.

3. Strengthens your immune system

Mangoes contain a lot of vitamins. It’s actually too much to sum up, but a couple of them are: Vitamin A, C, E, K, Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin B6, B12 and a lot more. They’re not enough to reach your daily recommended dose, so it could be smart to use a multi-vitamin as a supplement.

4. Prevents heat strokes

When it’s hot out and you need to cool off, you should try mango juice. Add some cold water, ice cubes, and maybe a tablespoon of sugar or honey. This will quickly help your body cool down and help prevent a heat stroke.

5. Functions as a skin cleanser

If you want to have cleaner skin, mangoes are one of the fruits I’d recommend. Mangoes help unclog your pores, which aids in preventing acne, and will make your face look healthier. You can easily use a mango on your skin by cutting it into pieces and apply to your face for about 15 minutes. When you wash your face, you should see the results right away.
