3 Reasons Why Olive Oil Is Great For Your Skin
You’ve probably used olive oil a lot for cooking, especially if you have an Italian heritage. Personally, I’ve been using olive oil for years, pretty much cooking all of my food with it, as there are many health benefits from cooking with olive oil. In this article, I want to talk about some of those health benefits, but I’m going to focus on how it can be beneficial to healthy skin.
1. protect your skin from premature skin aging
Olive oil is rich with vitamins and antioxidants. Three of the most important of which are Vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols. When correctly applied, olive oil could help protect your skin from premature skin aging with the help of Vitamin E and the antioxidant properties that help eliminate free radicals in the body. Vitamin E is a very important and useful vitamin, and it is partly responsible for helping restore the smoothness of the skin and protect it from the damaging effects of ultraviolet light.
2. Clears the pores
Many people have clogged pores which can lead to unsightly acne. Olive oil can help you clear the skin and unclog your pores. Some people consider olive oil to be an excellent moisturizer, even better than some of the commercial moisturizers. Olive oil will reach deep into your skin so it can cleanse your pores down from the root of the problem. Try it out by applying some organic olive oil on your skin before bed. After a few weeks, you might even consider ditching your current moisturizer.
3. Cosmetic Uses
If you’re a make-up aficionado, you’ll definitely find olive oil to be very useful. Though it is often used as an eye make-up remover, olive oil can also be applied to your nails to strengthen them, or as a facial mask to nourish and soften the skin. All of these things are obviously more focused toward the ladies, but olive oil could also come in handy for men too! It can be used as a replacement for shaving cream, or applied as a hydrating post shave oil.
